By covering potash tailings piles REKS supports not only raw material extraction, but also actively contributes to the circular economy by recovering mineral waste.
REKS works hand in hand together with the potash works, the REKAL plant as well as underground landfill sites of K+S: From the procurement of high-purity smelting salt to the recycling of salt slag from the secondary aluminum industry to the safe disposal of filter dust - you have come to the right place.
By means of underground recovery and disposal, we are conserving valuable raw materials and preserving the limited storage capacities on our landfill sites.
The recovery of mineral waste for use as tailings pile cover enables plant growth on the otherwise barren salt tailings piles. This allows precipitation to evaporate and reduces the formation of tailings pile water.
